I learned about the BLE Nano 2 from your comment, it seems like a perfect fit for the next generation of the robot. I love the fact that I will be able to upgrade the “brain” of the robot without having to switch to a different platform, rewrite the firmware or modify the electronics. It is great to see that RedBearLabs keeps evolving its products, while keeping the prices affordable. I have just backed it on Kickstarter, and looking forward to getting the new Nano on February :-)

If you do end up creating a brother or a cousin for Purple Eye, please do share some photos/videos. Let’s make them one big happy robot family!
