Hi Joep,
Eyal contacted me a few months ago and reported that he succeeded creating an Android app for controlling his bulb. He collaborated with another reader who pointed him out to this repo, containing tons of information about the binary protocol of the bulb.
I know they kept collaborating on figuring out how to communicate with the bulb, and found a few gems hidden in the firmware— such as this piece of ASCII art:
